Playing an Instrument as Part of Your Self Care Routine
Playing an instrument can be extremely soothing, and it can
often help with problems such as anxiety and depression. If you want to get rid
of these problems for good and make sure that you have a happy and relaxed
life, then playing and practicing with a musical instrument might be a great
idea in your case.
So how should playing an instrument fit into your self care routine? Well,
first of all, it’s important not to get too caught up in the correctness of how
you play. As a beginner, you will of course have trouble playing through most
songs, so don’t think about that too much. Just enjoy the notes, and even
consider improvising and enjoying a more spontaneous use of your instrument.
Another great tip would be to practice when you’re alone or
set aside a room where no one will disturb you. If you have an electronic piano
or keyboard, consider using the earphone feature so you can block out any
outside sounds even when you’re not alone in the room.
Finally, while practicing, make note of each improvement you
make – even the smallest ones. Encouraging yourself to continue and pointing
out your progress will greatly improve your self esteem and benefit your self
care routine to a great extent as well.
