Different Ways You Can Keep Learning an Instrument Fresh
Are you planning on learning to play an instrument really
well? If so, you’ll have to maintain a commitment to your practice sessions and
keep up the work required to learn the basics and move on to the more advanced
lessons.
In the beginning, finding the best used drum sets or other quality musical instruments and learning to play them can
be a tedious job. Even with a piano, the work can be monumental, especially as
you first practice remembering where all the notes are and teaching your muscle
memory to retain various movements that allow you to play simple songs with
both hands.
To keep learning fresh, you’ll have to get creative with
your practice sessions. First, make sure you don’t practice too much or too
little. A couple of hours a day will usually be enough, and if you don’t have
time every day, 3-4 sessions per week should do the trick.
If you’re seriously committed, then it’s important to keep
practicing on a regular basis, and stick to those 3-4 weekly sessions. To
prevent your sessions from becoming boring, you can always improvise, learning
new, simple songs, or coming up with your own music using the scales, notes and
chords that you are currently practicing with.
You can even bring in your friends and family members on the
fun. Whether you want them to just listen or to join in on the fun, making your
practice sessions spontaneous, enjoyable and interactive will often allow you
to learn more easily and retain your lessons a lot more quickly than through a
more traditional means.
