The Biggest Challenges of Learning to Play the Guitar
The guitar is said to be one of the
instruments that are relatively easy to learn. However, that “relatively” does
not mean that the process is easy – as a matter of fact, beginner players are faced
with many challenges, most of them very hard to overcome because they arise
from the lack of strength and dexterity in the fingers and in the hands.
Here
are some of the difficulties that you can expect to encounter:
-
Striking non-adjacent
chords – being able to quickly pluck two chords that are not side by side is a
challenge that can be overcome only with practice, lots of practice;
-
Pain in the finger tips
– your fingers and the skin on your finger tops will get used to the effort,
but until then, you will have to endure the pain or the discomfort;
-
The selection of the
right songs – there are so many melodies that sound great without requiring the
player to be a master of the instrument. You can find help online – check out
some videos posted by amateurs doing covers of famous songs or visit guitar
player blogs for useful advice;
-
Limited time for
practice – you don’t need to practice for hours on end, but it is a good idea
to try to include 15-20 minutes of practice into your day every day. If you feel you are ready to learn this fabulous instrument, look for used guitars for sale in local music stores or online.
