Keeping Your Musical Instruments Clean
Musical instruments must be protected from extreme
temperatures, direct sunlight and high humidity, but they must also be
regularly cleaned. This practice will help maintain their performance, during
each season. Only buy and sell used musical instruments that are properly maintained and in good working order. The way musical instruments should be cleaned depends on their
type.
Wind instruments
It is recommended to clean and wipe the mouthpiece before each
use. Wind instruments also have to be professionally cleaned, periodically.
Brass instruments such as trombone and trumpet are easier to care for. These
tools are easily dismantled and can be washed with warm water and dried with a
soft cloth. Do not use chemicals to make them shine! Chemicals tend to leave
sticky traces on the surface of the instrument.
Keyboard instruments
Pianos, orgies and synthesizers do not need care and
maintenance every day. In case they are not used, they must be protected from
dust and cleaned using a soft and dry cloth.
Instruments with
strings
There are some simple tips for the care and maintenance of
this type of instruments. Dust particles must be removed periodically with dry
cloth. Additionally, their wooden parts must be cleaned using furniture solutions
and special oils. In the case of valuable instruments, it is advisable to seek
the opinion of a specialist.
