Is Buying or Renting A Musical Instrument Right for Me?
One of the most important decisions that new
music learners have to make is whether to buy or to rent the instrument they
want to study. Both solutions are available from music shops – many stores offer
not only items for purchase, but an inventory for rent as well. You will want to look for the best time to find used guitars for sale or other deals as well. Here are a few
aspects to consider before you make up your mind:
-
Commitment – investing into an
instrument of your own makes sense if you are sure that you have found the
instrument that is right for you. If you want to choose an instrument for your
child and you are still in the experimenting phase, unsure whether your child
will love the instrument, indeed, renting is a better solution;
-
Financial aspects –
high-quality music instruments are not cheap, so if you decide to buy, you will
need to make a financial effort to buy the best item. If you rent the
instrument, you will pay multiple smaller sums for using the instrument, but
over time you might end up paying more on your rented equipment than the price
a new item. The best way is probably renting the instrument in the initial
phase, then buying your own item when you are sure the instrument of choice is
indeed what you or your child wants to play.
