Famous Rockstars Who Started Their Careers with Cheap Music Lessons
If you think all famous musicians got to where they are by
spending a lot of money on fancy guitars and enrolling in music school at an
early age, you’ll find that’s not necessarily true. A lot of famous rockstars
from early classic rock musicians, to contemporary rockers, have started out
rather late, and by just picking up a few lessons.
One of the most famous examples is Kurt Cobain, who became a
legend in the late 1980s and early 1990s playing and singing for the rock band
Nirvana. Cobain claimed he didn’t even remember the brand of the first guitar
he ever held, which was given to him as a present by his uncle. He started
learning around age 14 through about a month’s worth of guitar lessons.
British rock band Arctic Monkeys experienced huge success
during the last decade, and a large part of it was due to the musical talent of
Alex Turner, the band’s front man. Apparently, Turner started late by studying
an old Oasis chord book, and before taking lessons with his friend Josh Homme,
he only knew two guitar chords.
Finally, we have Billie Joe Armstrong, a guy who is still
living the dream with Green Day. This famous guitarist started playing at the
reasonable age of 11 with basic guitar lessons. Struggling with his passion for
music after the death of his father, Armstrong never gave up, and got the ball
rolling with the rock band Green Day even before the age of 17.
